Je parlais en contrôle d’une jeune patiente que je suivais depuis quelques années. Clinicienne, elle poursuivait ses études post universitaires. Elle pratiquait à ses heures un art où sa libido était investie. Elle avait du talent et commençait à être reconnue. Je disais à ma contrôleuse mon souci de la voir se tenir encore loin de l’orientation lacanienne et du Collège Clinique d’Athènes que je coordonnais. Je ne voulais pas la « perdre ».
– « Pas de prosélytisme ! » me lança ma contrôleuse. « Elle a déjà son art. Elle saura bien frapper à la porte de la Section Clinique le moment venu ». Soulagée, je partis légère. Libérée d’un idéal qui s’était fait surmoi dans la cure et avait pris les couleurs de la demande que j’adressais à l’analysante, j’ai pu ajuster mon désir d’analyste et laisser au sujet le temps nécessaire à l’engagement de son propre désir.

In supervision I was talking about a young patient I'd been following for a few years. A clinician, she was continuing her post-graduate studies. In her spare time, she practiced an art in which her libido was invested. She was talented and beginning to be recognized. I told my supervisor my worry of seeing her stay away from the Lacanian orientation and the Athens Clinical College I was coordinating. I didn't want to “lose” her.
“No proselytizing”, my supervisor let out. “She already has her art. She'll know how to knock on the door of the Clinical Section when the time comes.” Relieved, I left feeling light. Freed from an ideal – that had become a superego in the treatment and had taken on the shade of a demand addressed to the analysand – I was able to adjust my desire of the analyst and give the subject the necessary time to engage its own desire.

Un cas me déroute. J’en parle au contrôleur : je lui livre mes « impressions ».
Il m’interrompt : « Il n’y a pas que les impressions ; il y a aussi les signifiants ! Ce sont les signifiants dans la parole du patient qu’il faut chercher ». Rectification de ma position. L’intervention oriente depuis mon travail analytique.

A case puzzles me. I speak to the supervisor about it and give him my “impressions”.
He interrupts me: “There are not only impressions; there are also the signifiers! You have to look for the signifiers in the patient's speech.” A rectification of my position. Since then, this intervention has guided my analytical work.
