Quelque temps après la passe, je commence un contrôle avec celui qui fut mon dernier analyste. Je lui parle d’une patiente souffrant des maux de l’amour.
Tout occupée à rapporter le récit du cas, j’entends le contrôleur me dire : ça suffit ! J’ai assez vibré comme ça ! Je réalise alors la persistance d’un reste de compassion symptomatique, entrave à « l’inhumanité » du désir de l’analyste. Le contrôle permet ici un réajustement nécessaire de la position analytique. Il s’agit de prendre distance des affects et de rester au plus près du relief signifiant.

Some time after the pass, I begin supervision with the one who had been my last analyst. I tell him about a patient who is suffering from the pain of love.
While I am busy recounting the case, I hear the supervisor say to me: “that's enough! I've had enough of these thrills!” I then realise the persistence of a remainder of symptomatic compassion, hindrance to the "inhumanity" of the analyst's desire. Here, supervision allows for a necessary readjustment of the analytic position. It is a matter of distancing oneself from the affects and staying as close as possible to the signifying relief.
